Shafin Khan, the Vice President of External Affairs and Innovation at the UNO Research and Technology Foundation (UNORTF), is building an innovation ecosystem at the Foundation’s research park, The Beach, and revolutionizing The University of New Orleans’ innovation landscape and ethos on campus. Khan’s impressive track record in fostering entrepreneurial ecosystems and talent management leadership earned him this award. In his role, Khan is leveraging the resources of the public-private partnership between the Foundation and the University of New Orleans to catalyze collaboration across academia, public agencies, and private companies. His vision includes innovative programming to empower UNO students, graduates, and faculty, inspiring interdisciplinary education and cross-industry collaborations that support the region’s economic development goals and growth.
Shafin’s contributions to the Louisiana offshore wind industry have attracted and nurtured a diverse pipeline of young talent, fostered sustainable change within the industry, and contributed to an innovative academic opportunity for many young scholars. Shafin Khan has designed a replicable program that will reshape talent management and empower future leaders in the offshore wind and renewable energy sectors.
