Nexans is a U.S. supply chain pioneer because of their dedication to industrial investment in Charleston SC, where the company has successfully produced the first American made export cables for a U.S. offshore wind farm, South Fork Wind developed by Ørsted and Eversource. This manufacturing milestone sets the stage for many more cables to flow out of Nexans’ high voltage subsea cable U.S. facility. The facility has also exported the first American made export cables to the UK.
In five years, the Charleston facility underwent a transformation, going from underground cable production to offshore wind cable production. The investment in the facility emphasizes Nexans’ commitment to the offshore wind market in the U.S. and showcases their confidence in the industry over the long term. The creation of the Charleston facility lays the cornerstone for the supply chain and emphasizes the potential of offshore wind energy in the United States.
