Biography

Workshop: Federal Support of Offshore Wind Transmission: Recent News & Developments

Mark Severy is a research engineer at Pacific Northwest National Laboratories studying the challenges of deploying offshore wind energy. Since 2018, Mark has studied the value of offshore wind energy and pathways to interconnect large amounts of floating wind to the grid on the U.S. West Coast. At PNNL, he also studies the environmental effects of offshore wind energy and manages deployments of DOE’s lidar buoys to collect meteorological and oceanographic data. Mark is a licensed mechanical engineer and holds a B.S. from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and a M.S. from Humboldt State University.
