Benjamin Brown joined the Business Network in 2020 and is the senior director of Industry Education. Ben has more than a decade of offshore wind supply chain experience and assisting companies and stakeholders in understanding the U.S. offshore wind market. He teaches the Network’s groundbreaking Foundation 2 Blade industry training course, which helps companies understand and develop business opportunities in the offshore wind industry..
Prior to joining the Network, Ben managed technology, start-up, and workforce development projects for the Maine Composites Alliance, an economic development non-profit in Maine. He gained experience in the offshore wind industry while working as a graduate student at the University of Maine’s Advanced Structures and Composite Center on the Maine Aqua Ventus project, at the Maine Public Utilities Commission on rate design and energy policy, and the Maine Technology Institute assisting in their investment portfolio. Ben’s career passion is to aid in the development of technologies, industries, and economic opportunities focused on the sustainable utilization of natural resources.
Ben holds an M.S. in Resource Economics and an M.A. in Trade and Commerce from the University of Maine, and B.A. in International Relations from Wheaton College.
He currently lives in Maine where he enjoys brewing and cooking, going downhill at questionable speeds on skis or a mountain bike, and reading science fiction/fantasy books.
