Biography

Workshop: Engaging Local Communities in Offshore Wind: An Overview of Emerging Research and Resources

Suzanne MacDonald joined the National Renewable Energy Lab in July 2022 as a Senior Researcher supporting stakeholder engagement, energy equity, and community-based projects. Prior to the lab, she was the Chief Community Development Officer at the Island Institute, a Maine-based organization focused on building the capacity of coastal communities to navigate change. Suzanne’s work has included multi-faceted efforts to support island and coastal communities in New England to meaningfully participate in and shape offshore wind development processes. She currently sits on the advisory committee of the State of Maine’s Offshore Wind Roadmap and holds an MA from Tufts University and a BA from McGill University. Suzanne is based in Midcoast Maine.
