Biography
Workshop: Modernizing Station-Keeping Design for Floating Offshore Wind Turbines
Stein Housner is a Floating Offshore Energy System Engineer at NREL with a background in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and a primary research focus on mooring systems for floating offshore wind turbines and wave energy converters. He develops design tools for mooring systems and modeling tools for floating offshore wind turbines and marine hydrokinetic devices. Using these tools, he performs various mooring system design optimizations for floating offshore energy systems, individually or in arrays. Otherwise, Stein works on topics ranging from geometry optimizations of wave energy converters to exploring the challenges and feasibility of offshore wind in the Great Lake
