West Coast/California: Floating Offshore Wind’s Golden Opportunity
Now that the first West Coast lease auction for floating offshore wind has taken place in California, the regional focus is shifting to building out the port infrastructure and supply chain on the West coast (Including Washington and Oregon). The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) recently completed a Supply Chain Roadmap in partnership with the Business Network and is currently working on a comprehensive ports study that will provide various scenarios for states, developers, and OEMs to consider as the region readies for major floating offshore wind farm buildouts to meet California’s goal of 25 GW as well as Oregon’s future GW goal.
