San Diego – Coming on the heels of California’s first-ever offshore wind lease auction last week, the Business Network for Offshore Wind—the largest nonprofit working to accelerate U.S. offshore wind development and build a dedicated domestic supply chain—will host a California Offshore Wind Supplier Day this Wednesday, December 14 in San Diego to educate West Coast businesses about floating offshore wind and boost supply chain collaboration and innovation in this quickly emerging market.
The race to meet the federal goal of deploying 15 gigawatts (GW) of floating offshore wind by 2035 and California’s recently announced goal of 25 GW of offshore wind energy by 2045 will create unprecedented growth opportunities for West Coast businesses throughout the supply chain.
This event will feature speakers from Ocean Winds, Equinor and RWE — three of the five companies with successful bids in last week’s auction. Over 100 attendees from dozens of supply chain businesses are expected to attend, and participants will be able to meet with offshore wind developers, technology providers, and other suppliers, and learn about potential contracting opportunities.
