Statement from Liz Burdock, CEO & President, Business Network for Offshore Wind – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“We congratulate Dominion Energy on their announcement of this huge new offshore wind project 27 miles off the coast of Virginia. This 2600 megawatt (MW) project, with more than 220 wind turbines and enough to power 650,000 homes at peak wind, will transform the U.S. offshore wind marketplace,” said Liz Burdock, CEO & President of the Business Network for Offshore Wind. “We are doubly pleased that Dominion chose our ‘Sea to Land’ event in Norfolk as the place to make this historic commitment to the U.S. offshore wind industry and the Commonwealth of Virginia.”
“Dominion is also making history by being the first U.S. utility to take a lead role on a commercial-scale offshore wind project, and we encourage other U.S. utilities to follow their example as we build a home-grown offshore wind supply chain.”
“We urge the PJM Interconnection regional transmission organization to accept Dominion’s filing to connect to the power grid so that Virginia consumers can enjoy this clean power as soon as possible,” added Burdock.
