FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Statement from Liz Burdock, CEO & President, Business Network for Offshore Wind
“We applaud Governor Ralph Northam and his staff for this new directive that the state will generate 30 percent of Virginia’s electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030 and 100 percent from carbon-free sources by 2050,” said Liz Burdock, CEO & President of the Business Network for Offshore Wind. “We especially appreciate the offshore wind goal of 2,500 megawatts (MW) by 2026.”
“This aggressive goal will enable the offshore wind industry to continue the momentum from the 12MW CVOW project currently under construction,” added Burdock, “ and help drive the development of the state and regional supply chains to support the larger follow-on project in Virginia waters.”
Governor Northam will be the keynote speaker at the Network’s “Sea to Land” two-day offshore wind energy event that will be held in Norfolk, Virginia on September 19 and 20.
