A collaboration between the Department of Energy, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, the Business Network for Offshore Wind, and the American Wind Energy Association is leading this new national standards initiative which began this fall.
Over the past month, the AWEA Offshore Wind Subcommittee Working Group Chairs have drafted five scope of work documents. The AWEA Offshore Wind Subcommittee OWTAP submitted five Scope of Work documents to the AWEA Wind Standards Committee on December 7th to be reviewed by January 11th 2018. The OWTAP agreed upon the formation of 5 working groups: AWEA OCRP Maintenance, Met-ocean, Geotechnical & Geophysical, Floating, and Cable Risk. The Offshore Wind Technical Advisory Panel (OWTAP) had its first official meeting in NY on October 23rd during which members of the OWTAP volunteered to serve as the working group chairs. The Scope of Work documents posted on the AWEA WSC website where the WSC members can review the documents and submit a vote and comments on the scope of work.
